How do I extract a number result from a formula into a custom case field?

I have a formula that calculates the number of hours between a case creation time/date and a custom field I created where I notate the time/date of the case resolution.

The formula is read only so I can't select it to use within a report.

Is there a way to extract the number result of the formula and populate a custom field with it?
