New custom names aren't showing up

I've run into a similar problem to somebody else, who raised this awhile ago, but a solution wasn't given: https://success.salesforce.com/questionDetail?qId=a1X30000000IW0FEAW

 

Basically, I'm trying to rename picklist names under "Stage" in Opportunities. 

 

The help menu isn't that helpful, because it refers to a "rename" button that doesn't exist on my interface. 

 

I ended up created new picklist values, and deleting the old ones (using the "replace" button), but the new names don't show up when I go to create a new opportunity. How can I fix this?

    If the new picklist values don't show up, double check your Opp record types and Sales Processes to make sure the available picklist values have been updated.
