I'm wondering if there's a way to report open opportunities for existing customers. We use 'contracts' to maintain our list of existing customers. Contracts are created when a deal is closed and is linked to the Account and the opportunity. However, there are also instances where we may have additional opportunities from the same customer which is yet to be closed. Is there a way to create a report which will show me a list of current customers (iow existing contracts) along with any new opportunities within the account?.. I tried creating a custom report, but got stuck as I'm unable to link accounts to it.. I have a custom report which shows me a list of current contracts and what the closed opp are.
Any suggestions..?
We are on a Professional edition...
Thanks,
Priyanka

Ah, that won't help then!
Personally, I don't feel that linking open opps to a contract is the right way to go, as that will detract from your business process of using contracts for closed deals.
Perhaps you could instead try to reflect at the account level whether a customer is existing or not. I don't think a roll-up summary will work for you (as the Contract-Account relationship is a lookup), but something like the free Rollup Helper app or even a simple trigger could do this for you. Then this new account field will be available in regular opportunity reports and you can just filter for opp = open and account = existing.
