i am new to this salesforce.com crm plz help me
there are two objects target,saleorder both are custom objects. In that target object targetid is the auto number field. i retrieve that field by soql query in the apex class by using trigger i have push the value into the target lookup field in the saleorder custom object ..
in that i get an type casting error .. how is it possible to populate the text field value into the lookup field..,plz help me..,

in look up fields it allow only the recordIDs ..
