A user, who has reminders turned on by default, claims some of his reminders are removed. He needs to check his open tasks each day to be sure he is not missing a follow up task.
You might want to enable history tracking on that field for a while and see who is disabling the checkbox. It might be happening due to some triggering action or workflow field updates.
