In a salesforce community, I want to enable self-registration with (a) username/password and (b) Social: Twitter or Facebook.
I would like to minimize the creation of duplicate uses records. I would like check (by querying Salesforce user records) whether the user’s first name, last name, and email address is in the system, and if so, ask the user if any of those records presented. If the user selects a record (confirmation by the user), a password reset should be initiated for the email address displayed. Otherwise, allow for the creation of the user.
Any suggestions on how this use case could be achieved for both username/password and social self-registration?

The main question is during community self registration using Social channels Twitter or Facebook, how it could be interactive. I also noticed that Site Class has a setPortalUserAsAuthProvider(user, contactId) method. Could that be of any help?
