Question: how similar are the Advanced Admin and Platform App Builder exams? Is it feasible to take both on the same day?

I've recently taken and passed both (Adv. Admin end of March, App builder just yesterday). There is a lot of overlap. If I were to do it over I would take the App Builder first instead. The difference between the two is that Adv. Admin covers a wider set of topics, of which almost all are also on the App Builder certification where App Builder covers fewer topics overall but to a deeper depth. I had no intention of going after App Builder certification so close to Adv. Admin, but after attending the Certification Days webinar and seeing the content I felt that I should take App Builder as soon as possible after the Adv. Admin exam. I had about a month break between passing my Adv. Admin and attending the webinar where I made the decision to go for App Builder so I wasn't completely fresh as such I chose to do more studying. For both exams I used FocusOnForce.com for both their study aids and practice exams. As to taking them both at once -- they are not so dissimilar that it isn't feasible, but there isn't 100% overlap so you'll have to spend some time studying content specific to each exam along with the content that appears on both. If you don't take them the same day I would take App Builder first and then plan to spend a short amount of time (subjective, 20-40 hours of study time should be sufficient) on the Adv. Admin specific topics before taking that one.
