Welcome to the @Nonprofit User Group, Seattle, US, Christian. Glad to have you in the group. I see you've also joined the Power of Us HUB, which is best place to ask tricky functionality questions:-) I'd also see how far you can get with point-and-click before diving too deeply into Apex. Especially because you'll need to work around the PatronManager code. There is a huge amount you can accomplish in Salesforce before you have to write code :-) Look forward to seeing you at a meeting sometime.
