Store credentials of a web service

Let's say you are calling a web service from Apex to a third party system. Where do developers store the credentials of the web service ? I am sure that the password is not in the code. The credentials should be stored in an encrypted form.

    Hi Raj,

     

    once place i can think of is in custom settings. you can store the service url and credentials there. if you are storing in encrypted format, you need to apply decryption in your code before the callout.
