I am trying to publish a live data source to TO that is connected to a private network. I first tried Tableau Bridge which worked successfully however for the project I am working on, using Tableau Bridge is not the most effective solution. I have contacted the client and provided them with the IP address range for my TO site and I have added the IP address of the SQL Db to the private network allowlist. However whenever I still publish the live data source, TO still detects that the data source is on a private network and still uses Tableau Bridge when I am trying not to do that. I am trying to find another alternative where I do not need to use Tableau Bridge at all. If anyone could assist that would be highly appreciated please. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or I missed a step.
Hi David. Thank you for your feedback.
The reason why I said that Bridge won't be suitable is because, I am currently running bridge on my local machine and it only works when my laptop is on so my concern is keeping the live connection active even after I am not working on this current project for a client or when my laptop is offline. I thought perhaps there was another way to publish a datasource to a private network and maintain a live connection without needing tableau bridge. On another note we also provided the host of the SQL Db that is on the private network the IP address for our Tableau Online site so I thought that would be enough to remove the need for Tableau Bridge.
