Hi, Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have a dashboard that is connected to multiple databases, namely: redshift and Postgres.
I have embedded all my passwords while publishing to the server. But when I try to open my published dashboard:
I'm asked for my redshift password, which, although I've entered correctly says "incorrect password or username".
I'm using the same username and password to build my visualizations through tableau desktop.
My password contains a special character (`+`). Can that be the reason why?
Thanks
Hi there,
the idea is when you publish them you can check Embed password - make sure it has Allow refresh.
Ideally when you use this you need to keep all under same umbrella (package) and use extracts. When using extracts there should be a generic/service username and password and it goes with the publishing file.
Also, make sure the databases will allow admin user from Tableau server to have the access - or to be a part of the group allowing the access. Once you published the report you're handling the access to the server and starting there the server is impersonating your. Btw not sure you can use your username for that - restriction from the impersonation of the usernames.
Solution: Service/generic username and password | Admin Tableau server access to the DBs | Use extracts.
thanks,
Adrian
