#Tableau Debates - For greater insights

We have certain misconceptions when it comes to Data Pane in Tableau. There is a thin line of difference between Dimensions, Measures, Discrete and Continuous fields

If you want to master Tableau, understanding the difference between them is very much important.

Discrete Fields Create Headers and Continuous Fields Create Axis.

In the Data Pane of Tableau, we generally have Dimensions and Measure divided by a thin line.

All the fields in Dimensions are by Default Blue in Color and all those in Measures are in Green. This makes us think that

"Dimensions create Headers and Measures create Axis" - Which is not Correct

Even if it is a Dimension or a Measure, it can have any of the two states namely Discrete and Continuous.

So, even if it is a Dimension or a Measure, If the field is in Discrete State, then it will form Headers and if it is in Continuous state, it will form Axis.
