Bypassing API Calls for Transactional Emails using Marketing Cloud Connector

Our organization uses Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement Cloud and Salesforce Financial Cloud. Currently, we are sending transactional emails by making API calls from Salesforce Financial Cloud (SFSC). Is there a way to bypass this process and use the Marketing Cloud Connector to trigger transactional emails directly from SFSC, rather than through API calls?
