Hello, I just joined this group (thanks for having me). I am a little confused about the relationship between Salesforce Campaign members and Pardot AE lists / eMail recipients? I have both Salesforce Lightning Enterprise Edition and Pardot AE Plus edition. I do sync SF prospects and Salesforce Leads / Contacts to Pardot. Anyway, since you have to associate every Pardot AE email with a campaign, it seems apparent that the campaign members should align with the eMail list / recipients, correct? But, they don't! It seems I have to build my Campaign members using SF reports and other means, and I have to build my Pardot recipient lists using Pardot tools, but they are different builds and probably have similar prospects in each, but not exactly. Anyway, hopefully I explained my confusion properly and would appreciate if anyone could shed light on this for me?
thanks,
Noel
Hi @Noel Twyman,
Welcome to the group.
So, there is not only one way to achieve a certain thing in Salesforce/AE, it completely comes down to your use case and finding the solution which best works for you.
You are aligning emails with campaigns in order to see their performance in a Salesforce Campaign - here's an article explaining this: https://www.salesforceben.com/salesforce-engagement-metrics-component-pardot/
As for campaign members - you want to make prospects a member of a campaign if they had a touchpoint with that campaign. For example - you are sending an email invite to a webinar, and they register, you'd want to add them as a campaign member with a status registered. This will help you with multi-touch and ROI attribution reporting if you are using Opportunities and Contact Roles.
Pardot list, however, are used for email sending - so while you can add campaign members to lists, you don't have to, it comes down to your use case.
This might not be entirely helpful, but if you explain a bit further what you are trying to achieve, I might be able to point you in a direction.
Have you fully implemented Account Engagement? Did you self-implement or got help from a partner?
Regards,
Claudia
