I just started at a new company and am a new Admin in general. and I'm learning how they have their pages/profiles set up. They have just two profiles and control page layout views with Visibility filters and custom permissions. They end up with pages that have repeat components and sections, each configured differently and then visibility controlled by a filter that refers to the custom permissions. I find it very difficult to navigate and organize who sees what.
I know there is a move to less profiles and using permissions, but is this the best practice solution for page layouts? What are other people doing to customize page layouts for users?
Thank you so much @Erika Hilborn. This has been very helpful. I'm still learning about the set up as it was built before I started. Those apps exist, but I don't think they are being used right now. There has been a lot of customization and tweaking that I'm trying to figure out and document. It will be a few weeks or more before I land on how to implement changes but I will definitely send an update! Thank you!
