I have a time-based workflow rule that generates email alerts. All I want to do is change its # of days from 30 to 21. But a bunch of alerts are already scheduled in the Time-Based Workflow Queue, and they were fired by a bunch of different records (they are scheduled years into the future).

SF won't let me edit or add a time trigger if there are items in the .queue. But if I delete all the items and change the rule, then would I not have to provide the data entry person with a list of all the records from the queue that no longer have an email alert scheduled, and have them edit the date field that drives the workflow, and even edit them twice - once to blank out the field, then again to re-enter the same date value the field had in the first place?

Looking for a best practice here. Thx!

@John Fine yikes that doesn't sound like fun! If you do end up deciding to just go for a full reset and are having a hard time working through the process, @ me or dm me and I think I should be able to find a little time to hop onto a screen share session. Just let me know if/when that comes up and good luck either way!
