I've been reading on the Hub about Contacts associated with Organizational Accounts. We have a bunch of Organizations with no contact name associated with them. I got the recommendation to create a contact like "Friend at Company" and use the Contact page to fill in information for the Company/Org that is not available on the Account page. I followed this advice and have now imported our Orgs in this way.

After import, I now have three records for each Company:

"ABC Company" - Organizational Account record

"Friends at ABC Company" - Contact record associated with above Org Account

AND "ABC Company Family" - A Houshold Account that the SF automatically created to be a parent household account for the Contacts above.

I ran across the following post by Judi Sohn (who's greatly helped me in the past):

"Here's the thing... NPSP's recommended model is that you aren't creating Contacts directly in Organization accounts. Instead, Organizations are affiliated to Contacts and their Account is the Household Account.

I do understand why you would want to work differently and have Contacts that have Organizations as their Account instead of Primary Affiliation. However, our address management doesn't kick in with this model and that's why the Current Address lookup is not populating. That's by design."

So, my question is: Should I really leave these 3 records (Org, Contact, Household) for these Contacts (even though they aren't even people!) or can I just erase the superfluous Household Accounts (- can the Contact even exist w/out a parent HH Account?). The way it is now makes it quite confusing for a user searching for the correct record. Thanks.

I have imported Org Accounts with addresses in Account1 Street, Account1 City etc form. In the SF, it shows up in the "Billing Address" on the Account home page, but on the related tab under the "Addresses" - there are no addresses (including the one I see on the Account's home page). Is this normal? Did I do something wrong? Is this going to be problematic? Or maybe I should ask, is there a way to populate it there?
