Can Identity User licenses be used as Service Accounts?

We're wanting to create general service accounts for our connected apps like Pardot and DBAmp. Curious if we can use Identity Users instead of a Salesforce licesnse.

Hi Josh,   Identity licenses are used basically as a single-sign-on mechanism. You set up a bunch of connected apps, and people can log into those from a minimalist portal. By your description, it sounds like that's the right type of license for what you're trying to achieve - but keep in mind that these users can't really do anything on Salesforce itself.

HI Josh,   I guess for identity users there will be a separate licnes called 'Identity' , you shall use that
