How do i simply add map fields that i MANUALLY added to the lead to show up in the opportunity once the lead is converted.... do i need to add those same fields to the opportunity layout as well?

To confirm if i have them on lead layout and I add info into them.. how will data show up in the opportunity view if I do not add the fields manully to opporutnity.?

For example; I add field "BUDGET" how do i make sure " budget" shows up on opportunity when i convert the lead.
