Remove Tabs from Navigation bar?

Seems like a fairly basic question - in lightening how do I remove things from the navigation bar? We have a number of obsolete items in it.

    Hi Conor,

     

    You do this with the App Manager (set up menu)

     

    then select the app you want to edit

     

    and drag/drop from Select Items
