Hi,

We currently have a custom button that clones the record (a Contract) and makes edits to various fields on the cloned version. This is achieved by listing the ID of the fields to edit and the new values in the button's URL.

I have attempted to recreate this button in Lightning and have been unsuccessful; it just wants to edit the record, not clone?

I have tried using Quick Actions but am 1: unable to create a new Contract from a Contract, and 2: unable to dictate the new values for the fields I want changed on the cloned record.

Anyone got a solution for this? Is this a known issue? We have just started our transition and this is a much used button.

Thanks

This is not out of box functionality to do this using actions. I also had the same problem, ended up with a lightning component that helps me to give the same look and feel as you are expecting, but it's all custom.

    1. Create a lightning component.

    2. In the controller part, clone the record and change some values accordingly.

    3. Display a screen with changed fields, and save and cancel button.

    4. Use that lightning component to be called on the click of a "Quick Action".

Below is a screenshot of glimpse of what I did for one of my project. But this is all custom development and will need a developer to be involved.
