Pulling data from a un linked object

Hello I have created a report snapshot of our opportunites that has link to the opportunity from the custom object to the opportunity object.

 

The situation I have is I want to check if the opportunity is present in the snap shot, if it is I want to return a TRUE / FALSE to the opportunity to indicate if it has been forecast.

 

This will be used on a report for looking if a opportunity closed but was not in forecast.

 

Can anybody advise how they would deal with this ? Does it have to be done as at trigger ?, Could it be done as Process bulder ?

 

Any help would be great.

    Hi Jon

     

    I'm not fully clear on the issue. You say unlinked object in the title of the post but you also describe a custom object that has a link to the opportunity.

     

    Are you using the custom object for forecasting?

     

    If so how does the "snapshot" get created in the first place?

     

    Would be good if you could explain the objects purpose and relationships a bit more clearly.
