Restricting access to a dashboard

Relatively new to SFDC, so please be gentle.  I've got a dashboard that I want to limit access to.  I've created a Dashboard Folder and put the Dashboard in it.  I've set myself as the manager of the folder and granted one other user Viewer access.  I did the same to the reports folder for the reports in the dashboard.  However, anyone can still view the dashboard.  I believe the folder is being considered public because when I remove the Permission "View Reports in Public Folder" from the Profile the user is a part of, they lose access.  How do I lock down the folder?  Thanks.

    Chris, I'm sure not all of your users need access to all the standard("canned") reports and dashboards that came out of the box.

     

    Hence, as per best and common practice create separate folders for reports and dashbaords and clone the canned reports/dashboards and put them in these folders.

     

    Now you can granually control who can see which reports and you don't have to worry about the public folders as well.
