Here is what I have:
In my Lead object is a field LeadID. That is an external ID assigned by an inhouse process. This process maintains unique LeadIDs, scrubs the data before it is uploaded to SalesForce, and a host of other things.
I have a custom object 'Flood Leads' . This object contain detail information about a lead. For example Flood Leads contain multiple records per lead, detailing days when the lead received heavy rainfall.
Lead has the LeadID field
Flood Leads has these fields:
LeadLink Datatype:Lookup RelatedTo: Lead
LeadID Text(20) ExternalID
Relationaly speaking, there is a one-to-many relationship from Lead to Flood Leads based on LeadID.
When I am on the Lead page, I can create and enter new Flood Lead records. When I enter many per lead, they all are properly listed on the Lead page.
However I cannot load new Flood Lead records so that they are related through LeadLink.
I have tried SF's DataLoader, DataLoader.io
, and the Data Import Wizard, none of which work.
Thoughts? Help?

Thank you for your offer of assistance. We have decided to change the structure of a Lead and no longer need LookUp fields and custom objects.
