I'd like to group my opportunities by Forecast Category when viewing it in Kanban View. But I can only select stage, owner, channel, type.
Is there really no other way how I can group by forecast category? Would be much more meaningful than stages since two opportunities in the same stage, one can be either "at risk" and the other one e.g. "comit" so this would tell us much more...

A quick run through of what I did...
1) Created Custom Forecast field as a picklist using the forecast categories (decide if you want to include Omitted as a category for lost opps)
2) Create a Process Builder (couldn't do this with workflow).
Object = Opportunity
Start the process = when a record is created or edited
Criteria = Opportunity Stage does not eqal global constant null
Imediate Action - Update Records, choose opportunity that started the process.
Field = Custom_Forecast__c (replace with your field name)
Type = Formula
Value = below if my formula using my stage names. You should be able to copy this and replace with your stage names etc

You'll also need to backfill all your old opportunities. Best way to do this probably to export all opps with ID, stage and custom forecast field. Map in excel and then re-import to Salesforce using data loader.
Then if you navigate to Opportunitie and list views you can get the Kanban and group based on your custom forecast field.
