We have Sales Force Professional Edition

We want to set up a sign on for our customers to log into their account & view the status of their trouble tickets

Do we have to purchase another license for that or how can this be set up?

If anyone knows, could you give  me the steps on where to go?

Thanks

If you've been a Salesforce customer for a while you might have access to the old SSP - Self Service Portal. It's a free portal to allow Contacts to login to create and see their Cases (hopefully you're using Cases for your "trouble tickets.").

Read through this blog post series on setting up a SSP and see if it will meet your needs:

If you don't have access to a SSP (Salesfore stop putting it in new orgs in Spring 12), then you have to look at a Customer Portal - which will have licencing costs.
