Hey guys.

My org needs a few custom fields on an object.  Cancelled By, Voided By, and Paid By.  I would like each of these fields (when they are in a workflow and field update so it's automatic) Ti fill in the name of the user who did the paction of paying, cancelling, or voiding.  Make sense?

say I go into a record created by John Doe.  I move a picklist to "Voided".  I need salesforce to fill out the Voided By field with my name.  (Not user name).

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Jesse

If I needed to do this I would do the following:

    1. Create fields to capture my user name (ie Cancelled By, Voided By, etc).

    2. Set up Workflow rules for each scenario with syntax something like:

    AND(

    ISCHANGED(Picklist__c),

    ISPICKVAL(Picklist__c,"Voided"),

    ISBLANK(Voided_By__c))

    3. Set up a field update action to insert the current users name into the appropriate field. The syntax will be like this:  $User.FirstName + " "+ " " +$User.LastName.

Then repeat for the other fields and you should be good to go.
