Field available in layout when a value is picked form another field.

Hi all! I have a field with two values(y/n). And I need to create a field which will appear in the layout only when the value "y" is selected and it should be a picklist field. Could anyone guide me in how to achieve this? Thank you in advance!

    You could try Dependent Picklist.. But be warned it will just control the values displayed on the page... it will not show hide the field itself.. for this you wil need to code Visualforce
