I try to understand the Salesforce editions & license rules...
For example we have Salesforce Enterprise Edition in our Org, and many “Salesforce Platform” user licenses. I think that these licenses are too much for the user, because the most of the users need to use only some custom objects and the chatter. That means, If they had “Chatter only” license, they will have access to the accounts and contacts, and they could use the content, and modify custom objects.
Any tips and hints?

According to the latest pricing changes on platform licences I think the following is the way to go:
* users who need opportunities, leads, contract, campaigns, case mgmgt.... you have enterprise CRM edition
* users who need read-only access to the contacts & accounts you have platform light licences (10USD/user)
* users who need read-write access to the contacts & accounts you have platform app licences (25USD/user for every 10th custom objects)
