If you're confident that all the emails are associated with Contacts, and not also other types of records, then you can create a new report using the Activities with Contacts report template. Be sure to check out the filters at the top of any activities report -- this template defaults to showing 'My team's activities", Open Activities, and Tasks as well as Events. To show emails that have been sent, you're going to be looking for completed activites and Tasks.
If yout emails were sent from a variety of objects then start with a 'Tasks and Events' report template.
