Workflow rule when opportunity stage changed to a specific picklist value

Need help with this workflow - my email alert is not being sent if, for example the Opportunity is changed from 'Pending' back to 'Write Proposal' stage. I am new admin and this is how it was originally set up:

 

ISPICKVAL(StageName, 'Write Proposal') && 

 

OR(ISPICKVAL(StageName, 'Write Proposal'), ISNEW() )

    With your formula the only part that is working is ISNEW() so that's when it's firing.  

     

    Try one of these, they are the same thing

    OR(
    ISNEW(),
    (
    TEXT(StageName) = "Write Proposal" 
    && 
    TEXT(PRIORVALUE(StageName)) <> "Write Proposal"
    )
    )
    OR(
    ISNEW(),
    (
    ISPICKVAL(StageName, "Write Proposal" )
    && 
    TEXT(PRIORVALUE(StageName)) <> "Write Proposal"
    )
    )

     

    Both of these will fire 

    • If the record is new
    • If the Stage is changed to Write Proposal but was not previously Write Proposal

    I don't want to try and fit the fix into what you have right now because honestly, it's wrong.  You inherited a bad evaluation criteria, you might as well just fix the whole thing
