How to insert blank values into a lookup field?

I have an integration process in the API and a lookup field is updated, but the value can change (even to blank).

Unfortunatelly, if you leave the field blank, nothing happens, because the current value is kept.

Does anyone know of a way to blank out the field?

I know I could write a trigger, but I'd like to know if there is another way (maybe a reserve word to blank out field via the API).
