Salesforce for Outlook Sync Issue

What to do when Salesforce for Outlook doesn't sync contacts?  I see this error message in the log file:

 

"Error Sfdc.Outlook.OLSessionException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
