At first I tried Opp owner equals first name last name. But nothing showed. Then I ran the view as Opp Owner Contains first name last name and still nothing.
When I entered Opp Owner contains last name, it finally pulled a result. When I looked at the fields displayed, it showed the Opp Owner name as last name, first name (screenshot 1).
I copied and pasted exactly as it showed in the field and created a filter using Equals rather than Contains (screenshot 2), and it still pulled nothing (screenshot 3), even though it's exactly what the previous result had shown. Why is this? Why can't we use equals?

You need to enter the user's name in First Name + Last Name format (spelling and punctuation must match exactly). For that reason you're MUCH better off just using Owner Alias, it's a lot more forgiving
