Hi All,

We're a relatively small non-profit trying to get a little more sophiscated in knowing who are donors are. Right now to collect information about them in SF we use the notes section. I'm wondering if anyone has had success using an add on that tracks things what what company they work, what other Boards they are on, what other orgs. they donate to, etc. We are looking for a simple to us one-page ap to help with this.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Bobby

    Hi Bobby,

What sounds like is that you should be moving away of those text fields (notes) to many other fields.

Customize fields to tailor your organization’s unique requirements. You can:

Modify some aspects of standard fields

Change or add values to custom picklist fields

    Define dependency rules between fields

Create custom fields to capture additional information

Create formula fields that automatically calculate values based on the contents of other fields

Define default values for custom fields

Define validation rules for your fields

    Make a field required

Set fields to track changes, including the date, time, nature of the change, and who made the change

Create page layouts to control the display of fields

Set field-level security to control access to fields

    Create or modify field sets

Do some analysis of data captured that is important for your operations add those on sections on the contacts page layout. IE:

Interests section with options as checkboxes

    Company as related Account

Competitors Section with primary secondary etc picklists options

    etc

May be worth to spend some time with the agents to find our which sort of information they are already capturing as well to the information they find very usefull on their communications with donors.

    Hope all this helps. Best,

    Ines
