Search in Lightning

When i search Alex Smith, nothing would come up, but when i put Alexander Smith then the record came up. Shouldn't it comes up when I searched Alex Smith?

Also, how do I edit the fields that are showing on the results drop down? Currently it's only showing name and city. It would be helpful if it also shows Account ID as well, or Account owner et. Thanks
