Hi again, sorry for the second comment/question in a row! One other question which has come up as a result of migrating to Lightning :)
I have recently started using Macros in Lightning and referenced Classic Email Templates (with attachments) in these. When the macro runs, I can see that the following occurs:
- Subject is replaced
- HTML body is replaced
- Insert attachment runs (also, I can see that the attachment appears in the preview)
- Submit action runs
When I run the macro (in LEX), the email sends, but the attachments do not get processed. If I run the macro again without the submit action, I still see the attachment on the email action. When I click on send, it does not get included. However, if I use the same email template and complete the process manually in the Lightning action (i.e. no macro this time), the attachment is included fine.
Whilst longer term I want to remove the attachments in store them in a CMS anyway to improve deliverability, it seems like pretty unusual behaviour.
If I upload an attachment (file) directly as part of the macro, this works fine, but there is a large number of email templates in the system so I am unsure how best to proceed with this. It seems my options are:
- Convert Classic Templates to Lightning Templates
- Remove attachments from the Classic Email Templates and store in a CMS (fair bit of rework as a number of these are custom HTML)
- Reupload attachments into macros as files (my concern here would be attachment versioning between the Classic email templates and the macros. I wouldn't want to remove them entirely from the templates in case users want to manually send/we are still transitioning to LEX)
I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this/if anyone has any recommendations on how best to move forward? Any ideas would be amazing!
