We have been having issues with adding new knowledge product categories due known datacategory limitation in classic. Currently we have a limit of 500 data categories which is the maximum limit.
The problem is that we have more than 500 product categories to add to the category group and we cannot do that. Every time we have a new product category to be added, we need to adjust the existing product categories by either consolidating them or by deleting them (if it is a retired product). This is a recurring task which our team has to do every month and sometimes every other week.
Has anyone come across a similar situation where you had to add more than 500 product categories. If yes, how did you resolve the issue.
I have heard about a way to have product as custom objects. Is this something whih will resolve the issue? I haven't seen any documentation on how can we implement that.
