I enabled pilot users for lightning in our org using a permission set. When they login, they still need to switch themselves to lightning using the switcher. Is there a way to have them switched automatically to lightning after they've been assigned the permission set?

Hi @Veerle Rutten . There are a few options for automatically switching users to the new Lightning Experience interface.
+ Use the wizard in the Migration Assistant, as doc'd here:
