Facebook and other social tools automatically detect a URL and create a link type post with a preview but Chatter doesn't. In order to get the preview of a URL in Chatter, you MUST use a Link post type. This is craziness! Vote on this #IdeaExchange Idea to remove the Link post type and have Chatter auto detect a URL and generate the related link preview!
