We get requests all the time from individuals who are looking for justification that they can provide their manager for why they should get certified.
I figure, rather than having Salesforce U chime in, let's let the community of Certified
Salesforce.comprofessionals tell you why they got certified, and what it has done for them in their career. Let's start the long weekend off right with some warm and fuzzies!

It's good risk management on the employer's part to have people certified. If you're going to let someone loose on your data, you can have more confidence if they've been externally accredited.
