Collaborate with Transparency and Trusted Security

Learning Objectives

After completing this unit, you’ll be able to:

  • Create Salesforce channels to keep conversations organized by topic or project.
  • Use Slack huddles and screen sharing to hold quick chats and brainstorming sessions.
  • Send audio and video clips to help your team catch up anytime, anywhere.
  • Safely bring customers and external partners into Slack while protecting your business using built-in security features.

Organize Conversations: Create Salesforce Channels

Salesforce channels bring your Salesforce customer data right into Slack, creating a shared workspace where your team can collaborate seamlessly with real-time, up-to-date CRM information. These channels are connected directly to Salesforce records like accounts, opportunities, or cases, so you get the full picture without switching apps. Plus, it respects your CRM’s security settings, so only the right people can access sensitive customer information. This means your sales, support, and marketing teams can collaborate confidently and securely. You can also:

  • See detailed Salesforce data alongside your team chats.
  • Take quick actions like updating records, logging notes, or assigning tasks right in Slack.
  • Use AI summaries to stay updated on conversations and key insights.
  • Access tools like to-do lists, canvases, and integrations, all linked with your Salesforce data.

Quick Chats: Brainstorm with Huddles and Screen Share

Sometimes decisions need to be made quickly. Slack huddles let your team jump into instant voice or video chat without setting up a meeting. Huddles are available for the free Slack version and can be integrated with your CRM. For example, if a team member needs to understand the new changes to Pamela’s cake, you can hop on a quick huddle to share the details and make decisions right then, saving valuable time.

Screen sharing during a huddle further enhances visual communication. Imagine walking someone through cake order details by showing examples directly. You can even invite Pamela and your team to the same call, share your screen to showcase the newest cake design, and get everyone’s approval before lunch.

Stay Connected with Slack Clips

For busy or remote teams, sending a Slack clip is a great way to share updates via video without a long meeting. With clips, you can record a quick video showing how to handle a tricky customer question (or cake!), allowing your team to watch it at their convenience. This ensures everyone stays informed and connected, regardless of their location or schedule.

Collaborate Safely with Customers and Partners

Slack isn’t just for your growing team. You can also work with customers, vendors, and partners using Slack Connect. Instead of emailing back and forth, you can create shared channels in Slack where internal and external teams can chat, share files, and solve problems together, quickly.

Security is a top priority at Salesforce and Slack. Users of the free version of Slack benefit from encryption and two-factor authentication. For more comprehensive security capabilities, Business+ and Enterprise+ plans offer advanced features.
