I'm utilizing Tableau Desktop 10.2 to create some large .CSV files. Please note I do not have Tableau Server, so cannot use TABCMD.

My current process to publish the files is:

  1. Manually refresh my extract (a SQL query). I am NOT using a live connection.
  2. Right click in the data pane
  3. Select "Select All"
  4. Select "View Data"

Control-Keys for Select All / View Data
  5. Select "Export All"

Unfortunately, Tableau seems a little slow when it comes to step #3 (Select All).

The file is about 17 columns wide and contains ~250,000 rows.

Question: Is there a control-key or function I could use to speed up this process?

Per above, I cannot use TABCMD. Also, due to company security issues, I cannot use third-party key loggers.

Thanks for any help!

Also something to think about-- regardless of if there are quick-keys or not, could the way in which I am presenting the data be over taxing Tableau and therefore slowing it down?

I require all the data above (17 columns, 250k+ rows) in the output, but maybe there are some tricks I can use that will not drain Tableau resources?

    Michael,

To select the Data you could use cntrl+a. I don't see one for View Data however. Maybe this link will help: Keyboard Shortcuts

Just curious, are you using the export all button? Because you could Use Worksheet > Export > Data as described here: Export Data

and this is absolute gold if need be: The Greatest Tableau Tip EVER: Exporting CSV made simple!

    Hope this helps!
