Hello All,

I am trying to understand the different tableau server timeout variables but not sure as to how the session / query timeout is working. We have integrated javascript API with trusted ticket authentication.

Below are some of the timeout settings we have configured on our server

vizqlserver.session.expiry.timeout -> 240

vizqlserver.session.expiry.minimum -> 5

wgserver.session.idle_limit -> 240

wgserver.session.lifetime_limit -> 1440

with values set to the above, we are observing that, if there is no activity on the application and user comes back after around 30 minutes to 1 hour, the user is not able to click on the dashboard to filter it and filtering does not work nor do the tooltips show.

Also, one more observation is that the time interval after which this happens does not seem to be consistent.

We would like the dashboard to be active for 4 hours, so even after 2 hours of inactivity the user should be able to comeback and apply filters or use dashboard normally.

Can anyone please explain where each of the above settings are used & which one should we be updating to get the above desired result.

Any help on this would be really appreciated. Thanks.

    This is more likely to be the trusted ticket expiry mechanism, I think.  That is not configurable.

    To be slightly more clear, it's the intersection of ticket expiry and the other settings, including what Vikram mentioned.
