Hi,
First time poster here. I have a problem I have been trying to solve by reading various community posts and online articles, but have not been able to discover a resolution.
I have a Tableau workbook where the data source is an Excel file (located on a network drive) joined with Snowflake data. I would like to publish the workbook with a live connection to this data source.
The problem is that whenever I post this dashboard to my company's Tableau Online site (we are using Tableau Online not Tableau Server), the data is not refreshing properly. I have tested this by going into the Excel file and adding test rows, but these do not show up on the published dashboard. What is funny is that the dashboard does refresh and include the test data while still in Tableau Desktop.
I have seen some articles suggesting that Tableau Bridge is the only way to accomplish this since we are using Tableau Online, can anyone confirm that that is indeed the case?
I have only been using Tableau for the last couple months so I am still learning as this is my first dashboard using Excel data, so any clarity on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Brady,
Even when you clear the cache, does the new data not appear in the reports?
Essentially your tableau server must have access to the area where the excel is stored. As Tableau Online is Tableau hosted, you may account the issues you're experiencing. I would say explore Tableau Bridge and Tableau Server options if there seems to be a restriction on accessing the data.
Thanks,
Mavis
