Hello Trailblazers, I am a part of Revenue Operations and we receive a lot of requests to reopen closed lost or dropped opportunities.

Background: Several prospects tell us that they do not have budget or xyz reason and the opp gets closed. A good number of times they get back to us and want to start the conversation again

- Our BDR/Sales team want us to revive the closed opportunity.

- Strategy team suggests us to create new opportunity if the opp is in prior quarters.

From a BDR/Sales standpoint, recreating all the historical facts is time confusion and most importantly several critical information can be lost.

From a Strategy standpoint, they do not suggest us to reopen opps from prior quarters as several metrics get affects.

Based on my research and talking to a few peers from other organisations, it is recommended that we revive opportunities and the Strategy to maintain a quarterly snapshot of data and perform calculations based on snapshot data and not using live Salesforce report.

Please share your thoughts as I need to take a decision on how to proceed. Thanks.

Hello, I understand your situation fairly well, and I have faced similar issues in the past. However, it is a good thing that salesforce stores all data related to closed opportunities as well, so I recommend creating new opportunities while incorporating data from previous work. I hope this attachment is of some assistance.

If you found my response helpful and believe that it adequately addresses your query, I kindly request you to consider marking it as the "best answer". By doing so, it will also help others who might come across a similar issue. Your action will ensure that the most effective solution is highlighted and readily accessible to those seeking help in the future.
