Let's assume that a customer community user:

  • Connects in Day #1 to the experience site using Facebook credentials -> a user is created for him
  • Then he's back Day #2 but this time he uses LinkedIn credentials
  • Then Day #3 he's back, but this time he chooses Twitter credentials

The question: how can we make sure that only one user record is created for this user and link the three social credentials to this unique user record

I've heard that we can use the email to link the three social accounts , but what if the user have different emails associated to his different social accounts?

"Existing User Linking URL" under Auth. Providers definition allows user to link external auth provides with an existing user account. When user clicks on this URL, user has to authenticate with the both external system and Salesforce and confirm on the linking both the accounts thats when an entry is created in ThirdPartyAccountLink object.

User has to follow the same steps to link with additional external systems. Its up to you on how and where you want to host this Linking URL to enable users to link the accounts, one option could be in the home page after initial login or may be in login page as a button.
