Best approach to customize the Mobile and LEX actions section of the HEDA Contact Page Layout?

My client wants a "Log an Interaction" quick action instead of "Log a Call." I've created a new Quick Action for this, but the mobile and LEX actions section of the HEDA Contact Layout is locked. He'd rather not use a new layout, since he wants to keep as much out-of-the-box HEDA elements in place. Is there a way to add new actions to this section, or should I just clone the layout and not worry about it?

    @Rob Walter​ - I see. So you've already overrode the predefined actions under Salesforce Mobile and LEX Actions section. My next question: Where are you attempting to add "Log an Interaction" from? Are you looking under Quick Actions or Mobile & Lightning Actions?
