We have some donors that give separately from their spouse, who is also a donor. How do others handle this?
Do you split each spouse into their own household and track the marriage via the Relationships object, so that the greeting and auto-opportunity contact roles are correct, or is there a better way to do this? Even by not including the spouse as on contact role on the other's donation, I don't see how we could have accurate data if they are in the same account. Thanks for any feedback or ideas!
@Fundraising@Nonprofit Success PackThe rule of thumb is, one family = one household account. When an individual in the household is the donor, their contact role on the Opportunity is listed as "donor," and the money they gave show up on their contact giving totals on their contact page. If you never want to put them together (for an invitation, a year-end receipt that includes the family giving, or an appeal) then, of course, you can make them each their own household.
So I understand that you want to send totally separate communications and use the household mailing list to do it, so you need the formal and informal greeting never to include the spouse?
