Regarding Field level access

I am the system admin.I am trying to grant a field level access to one of the other profiles.I am able to give only Read access to the profile.Am unable to check the checkbox Edit access for that field.How will I be able to give Edit access for that particular field on that profile.

 

Please help.

    What kind of field is it? If it's a formula field, it'll be no joy. They can't be edited
